About The Presenter

On the morning of 9/11/2001 I was busy in my office. Before the second plane struck the second of the Twin Tower, we had turned the TV on in the conference room which I could see from my desk. When the second plane struck, I asked myself a question. "When would I be recalled to Active Duty?" By the time the third plane hit the Pentagon and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, I was fairly certain I would be recalled because in June 2001, I had been selected to become the first chaplain to serve as the Deputy Joint Staff Chaplain, a new position. I was already scheduled to begin this assignment on 27 September 2001. At 0730 on 17 September 2001 I began a three year tour in the Pentagon.

Within the first week, I realized I needed to gain a deeper understanding of Islam. We were being peppered with questions about Islam and we, at times, had to provide advice even when it was not requested. As a consequence, I began a detailed study of the Quran, Hadith, Tafsir, the life of Muhammad, the history of Islamic expansion, Islamic Jurisprudence and Islam in America. It became clear that America was facing an existential threat by Islam. 9/11 was the tip of the iceberg, but this physical attack unveiled the detail, depth and duration of the strategy.

Be Still Ministries was born in the crucible of need for a deeper understanding of the global objectives of Islam. This was coupled with a growing awareness that the significant misinformation pouring forth from the media produces fear and a reluctance to share the Gospel with Muslims. This awareness drives the purpose of Be Still which is:

  1. to enable Christians to learn and appreciate that Islam is a unique worldview as well as a political, economic, military, social, cultural, family, and religious system where theology is subordinate to the requirement to adhere to the Sharia or Islamic Law.

  2. to have confidence in reaching Muslins with the Gospel of Jesus Christ because the same Holy Spirit that moved in my heart and your heart will move the heart of a Muslim.
